Process Engineer- Port Allen, LA
Responsibilities: The primary purpose of the
job
is to provide process engineering support to Criterion's Port Allen, LA catalyst manufacturing facility. The site consists of several operating lines which produce hydro-treating catalyst. Individual lines include: a precipitated alumina powder line, two extrusion lines, one catalyst impregnation line, a solution preparation area, and associated utilities. The process engineer is responsible for supporting the operation of several process units at the site. These responsibilities include ensuring compliance with the Product and Process Definition (P&PD) of each product manufactured, and to provide guidance to Operations on product quality, process, or equipment issues that arise on a daily basis. The process engineer will plan, conduct, and/or coordinate longer term optimization studies, including Statistically Designed Experiments, process capability studies, and equipment debottlenecking studies. The role requires the process engineer to work closely with corporate functions on more strategic issues. These issues include: coordinating trial runs with Manufacturing Technical
services
(MTS) for new product introduction, working with Sales Tech Service and application managers on product waivers, and working with Supply Chain to optimize the production schedule and manage Slow Moving/Off Grade (SMOG) material. Additional responsibilities include: Provide process engineering support for day-to-day unit issues Responsible for issuing control plans for product changeovers Responsible for identifying and executing optimization projects Responsible for month end process order variance analysis, and year end review for product costing purposes Provide product disposition for off-grade material Provide input to unit shutdown planning Operating in a fast paced environment with lean staffing Balancing short term needs with long term goals Managing multiple issues simultaneously Requirements: Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a fulltime basis for anyone other than current employer Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Process Engineer Previous petrochemical process engineering experience is highly preferred Capable of working independently in a self directed environment Strong communication skills are essential
