Northern Floater Loader Operator/ Scale Operator

Overview
The Scale Operator Floater position loads and weighs trucks. As weighmaster, trucks are weighed using the Lafarge LIFE system. Depending on size of facility, other duties as assigned may include Kronos (Payroll) entry & reporting, P2P Receiving duties, KPI reporting and/or general administrative duties.
As a loader operator, this position supports plant operations through the operation of various equipment, machinery, and vehicles; is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a front-end loader. This includes a high level of customer service in directing and loading customer trucks, locating and relocating stockpiles as needed, and performing various cleanup activities. Ensures vehicles receive proper maintenance at all times. A qualified candidate must be familiar with and adhere to service requirements, equipment and operator limitations and safe operating procedures at all times. Must keep inside of vehicle clean and neat at all times. Performs cleanup activities on a routine basis. Performs other duties as directed by management. As a Floater, this person is required to work as a Weighmaster onsite at the following Lafarge locations: the main location would be the Port Allen Lousiana Aggrgegate Yard, and they would also work at the Lafarge Aggregate Yards in Louisiana and Mississippi when needed.

+ Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION
+ Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times. Responsible for site-specific safety training of all visitors; completed in a professional manner
+ Weighs trucks and ticket outbound sales using the Lafarge LIFE system
+ Communicates effectively and timely with Sales staff
+ Assists customers in identifying needed product and amount
+ Maintain accurate cash and COD records
+ Establish win-win relationships with haulers to provide best transportation services
+ Maintain or improve order entry systems and procedures to provide on-time delivery and effective communication with customers and Lafarge employees
+ Ensure all work areas, including scale house, are clean, tidy and organized at all times
+ Trains and coaches other employees
+ Performs other duties as time permits or as assigned
+ Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
+ Conducts pre-shift safety inspection of equipment and vehicles. Ensures proper maintenance.
+ Operates and/or drives equipment and vehicles as required. Example responsibilities include:
+ Operates a front-end loader
+ Supplies production facility and/or stockpiles raw feed or finished products
+ Inspects, plans and performs plant maintenance
+ Other duties as assigned by Management
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS
+ Communicates with Transportation Coordinator about issues with haulers, jobs, and overall scale issues.
+ Constant interaction with dispatch and inside sales to avoid ticketing issues and delays.
+ Close interaction with external haulers and customer base.
+ Works regularly with PSSR to correct and minimize billing issues.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School diploma/GED
Work Experience: Previous scale, dispatching or order-taking experience preferred.

Physical Requirements & Conditions:
+ Must be able to pass pre-employment physical/drug/alcohol test

+ Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed

Must be computer literate and able to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
